In order to go from a fallow field to a healthy and productive soil, we decided to add around 3 inches of compost to each growing bed and then tilled it into the existing soil. These beds, as well as the rest of the soil on the farm, are heavy clay’s and quite compact so I felt it best to get a jump start on the building process of our soil by having a large amount of compost be brought in. We're ready for spring planting.
